Breast Screen NSW

One in nine women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. The best time to treat breast cancer is when it is still very small. Screening mammograms are the best way of finding breast cancer early.

Breastfeeding Helpline

Available 7 days a week on 1800 686 268. Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) counsellors are trained volunteers who provide counselling and breastfeeding information to any person seeking their help. All ABA counsellors have breastfed at least one baby for at least nine months.

Bring Up Respect

Stop it at the Start aims to help break the cycle of violence by encouraging adults to reflect on their attitudes, and have conversations about respect with young people.

The campaign is aimed at parents and family members of children aged 10–17, as well as the teachers, coaches, community leaders and employers of young people.

Since young people’s attitudes and behaviours are shaped by those around them, it’s important to expose them to positive influences where they live, work, learn and socialise. As adults, we need to recognise and reconcile our role as important influencers of the younger generation.

Bureau of Health Information

BHI produces independent reports and information about the performance of the NSW healthcare system.

Bureau of Meteorology

The Bureau of Meteorology is Australia’s national weather, climate and water agency. Its expertise and services assist Australians in dealing with the harsh realities of their natural environment, including drought, floods, fires, storms, tsunami and tropical cyclones.

Through regular forecasts, warnings, monitoring and advice spanning the Australian region and Antarctic territory, the Bureau provides one of the most fundamental and widely used services of government.

Cancer Australia

Cancer Australia was established by the Australian Government in 2006 to benefit all Australians affected by cancer, and their families and carers. Cancer Australia works to reduce the impact of cancer and improve the well-being of those diagnosed by ensuring that evidence informs cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and supportive care.

Cancer Council

As Australia’s peak national non-government cancer control organisation, Cancer Council Australia advises the Australian Government and other bodies on practices and policies to help prevent, detect and treat cancer. We also advocate for the rights of cancer patients for best treatment and supportive care.

Cancer Institute NSW

We collect and use the latest cancer data, information and evidence to drive improvements in cancer outcomes. We are the largest funder of cancer research in the state, with a focus on the translation of research findings into clinical practice.

The Institute works with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver initiatives and programs that reduce the impact of cancer on our community.

Canrefer Cancer Referral Network

Canrefer is an online cancer services directory for residents of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. It lists specialists, hospitals and services that provide diagnosis and treatment for people suspected of or diagnosed with cancer. Canrefer is administered by the Cancer Institute NSW.

Canteen

Canteen is the only organisation in Australia dedicated to providing tailored support for young people impacted by cancer.

Care for kids ears

Care for Kids’ Ears helps parents, carers, teachers, teachers’ aides, early childhood workers and health professionals recognise and prevent ear disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

Carer Allowance

For people who give additional daily care to someone with a disability or medical condition, or an adult who is frail aged.

Carer Gateway

Carer Gateway is an Australian Government program providing free services and support for carers.

If you care for a family member or friend with disability, a medical condition, mental illness, or who is frail due to age, then Carer Gateway can help you.

Carer Help

The Australian Government has funded two CarerHelp projects. The first project, CarerHelp Project, ran between 2017 and 2020 established the CarerHelp website after a review of the evidence, scanning for Australian resources and interviews with carers.

The second CarerHelp Diversity project will run between 2020 and 2023. As well as maintaining the CarerHelp website, the primary aim of the funding is to ensure that CarerHelp is accessible and able to reach a diverse population of Australian family carers.

Carer Payment

A payment if you give constant care to someone who has a severe disability, illness, or an adult who is frail aged.
